[The Shimmer / The Edges Of Body In Movement ] Jeniffer Nugent
How do we witness each other in motion, what is a warm up, how does movement become the language in which to express ourselves, how do we practice our unfolding ecology and dance for each other? What are we hearing and how do we explain? What does movement do and what can it become? I would like to propose partnering, modes of physical listening, and tuning practices as a way to heighten our responsivity during interactions of touch while creating and navigating ever changing physical landscapes. The work we will do together holds an intention and an invitation to experience conversing intimately with movement, with dance, and with each other.
【つながり／TUNAGARI／ Connection】Masako Kitaura
My professional background has three aspects: dance improvisation, physical dance theater and kimono. The theme of the workshop is “Connection”: the essence of artistic expression common to all of these. Connection with yourself, connection with others, connection with the earth, connection with all things in creation. In that connection, the generation of creative expression and the moment that pierces the depths of sensibility occur. Then, love and timelessness are drawn from the moment-to-moment, once-in-a-lifetime chance; the flow of time changes due to love, and the space is transformed by involving the body.
We will share and practice improvisation sessions, revealing discoveries that create new things both outside and inside yourself.
[Contact Improvisation workshop] Noam Carmeli
Principles of movement in contact
How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky?
What is movement and how do we sense it in the body?
How can we create movement while wisely using the force of nature?
What can support the flow of movement with our partner?
In this workshop we will look deeply for what are the basic principles in Contact
Improvisation that help us stay in continuous connection with ourselves, the movement
and with our partner during the dance.
We will find ways to share weight while releasing unnecessary effort and tools to enrich
the combination of a strong structure with free movement, a fundamental combination
that exists around us in nature, which may help to support the depth, the joy and the
flow in our common dance.
